INFORMATION FOR ELECTRONIC MEDIA

1. Responsibility for electronic media at the G20 Summit in Hamburg

The Press and Information Office of the Federal Government is responsible for all matters relating to the press at the G20 Summit in Hamburg. That applies to all venues during the Summit. Only the accreditation and additional passes for host and stand-up positions of the Press and Information Office (see above) are valid here.

2. Host TV

Owing to space- and security-related restrictions, Germany’s public service broadcasters and private TV stations have agreed to establish a joint host TV which will broadcast via satellite in accordance with the Berlin Model. The transponder data will be published in due course.

Please note: Other live TV broadcasting equipment cannot be authorised in the conference area or at other secure locations in connection with the G20 Summit!

If you have any technical questions on the host TV, you can contact the Berlin Model via:

Björn König
NDR Television/Technical Coordination
Tel.: +49 40 4156 81900
Mobile: +49 171 / 5531710
Email: b.koenig[at]ndr.de

3. TV and radio booths in the International Media Centre (IMC)

The TV editing and radio booths, which will contain standard equipment, can only be booked free of cost via the EBU. The EBU only charges for broadcasting the TV signals, which are otherwise free of charge and without copyright restrictions.

4. Stand-up positions in the IMC and Hamburg port

At present, the plan is to have stand-up positions in the Media Centre inside Hall B2 and outside Hall B1. Furthermore, there will be a stand-up position in Hamburg port with a view of the Hamburg Philharmonie and the city centre.

At both locations providers such as the EBU and others will make available equipment and broadcasting times subject to a fee. Contact information for the providers will be published at a later date.

It is imperative that broadcasting equipment for stand-up positions in these areas be registered, stating the type of vehicle, registration number, measurements in terms of height, width and length, weight and power requirements,

by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, 31 May 2017.

Please note: We strongly recommend all TV stations who would like their journalists to report on screen to use the services of the providers as, due to the lack of space, we will be unable to meet the demand for stand-up positions for individual broadcast vehicles. Furthermore, the setting up and use of fly aways is not permitted.

Please note: You can expect to need in excess of 600m of cable for SNG in the IMC and in the port!

5. Use of radio frequencies

All representatives of the electronic media (television, radio, online, etc.) are required to register the radio frequencies they use to the Bundesnetzagentur. Use without a valid frequency allocation is an offence and may result in a fine. Unregistered radio frequencies may also be blocked.

POOL TICKETS

During the entire G20 Summit a whole host of photocalls and press briefings will be taking place. They will be listed in the press programme, which will be published at a later date.

Owing to the high level of media interest and restricted space, access to individual photocalls is only possible for a limited number of journalists. The visual media of the participating states will be given preferential treatment.

Requests from journalists from the participating states to attend restricted-access photocalls should be directed at the national press delegations.

After the full press programme has been published, requests from German or other international media to attend restricted-access photocalls can be sent to the following e-mail address, stating the media and the concrete restricted-access photocalls in question: medienbetreuung@bpa.bund.de.

Visual media are therefore asked to take note of restricted-access photocalls which may be mutually exclusive. Requests will be answered shortly before the event. A request does not entitle the media company in question to be granted access.
